Environmental Safeguards - Las Vegas Landfill, Western Elite

Western Elite landfill is equipped with a synthetic liner and leachate collection system to protect the environment. The composite liner system consists of a 60-mil HDPE geomembrane with geo-net or geotextile overlaid for extra protection. The leachate collection system is placed above the liner and consists of a network of pipes that route any liquid to the lowest point of the landfill where it is pumped out for treatment. Groundwater is tested on a regular basis as an additional precaution to ensure the integrity of the facility has been maintained.
